Shouko Komi continues her quest to make one hundred friends with her friend and classmate Hitohito Tadano after an exciting and momentous cultural festival. As winter approaches, the class is joined by Makoto Katai, a seemingly delinquent student who has been absent since the first week of school. Despite his intimidating demeanor, Katai struggles to communicate with others and simply wants to befriend his classmates. Komi and Tadano's relationship begins to change—though not necessarily for the worse—as new friendships form and old ones deepen.
