Was it all a coincidence, or was it predestined? A chance encounter gave Ichigo Kurosaki the abilities of a Soul Reaper. Ichigo became entangled in the turmoil of the Soul Society, a gathering place for deceased souls, as a Substitute Soul Reaper. But, with the help of his friends, Ichigo overcame each obstacle to become even stronger. When new Soul Reapers and enemies appear in Ichigo's hometown of Karakura, he returns to the battlefield with his Zanpakuto to aid those in need. Meanwhile, the Soul Society has noticed an increase in the number of Hollows destroyed in the World of the Living. They also receive separate reports of missing residents in the Rukon District. Finally, there is the Seireitei.
